Anambra State Pharmaceutical Distribution Hub, Oba

The Anambra State Pharmaceutical Distribution Hub, Oba is a major initiative of the Anambra State Government designed to transform pharmaceutical distribution into a safer, more organized, professional and regulated system.

Located along the Onitsha–Owerri Expressway, Oba, the Hub sits on approximately 50 hectares of land and is planned as a coordinated pharmaceutical wholesale distribution centre that brings businesses, regulatory agencies and supporting infrastructure together in one accessible ecosystem.

The project was conceived in response to the challenges associated with a chaotic and unorganized pharmaceutical distribution system, including the circulation of fake, sub-standard and adulterated medicines. Its objective is to provide an environment that supports genuine pharmaceutical products, responsible business practices and more orderly distribution.

A Modern Pharmaceutical Business Environment

The Hub is planned to provide wholesale suites, offices and shops, alongside administrative facilities for NAFDAC, the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN) and other competent regulatory agencies. The project also identifies road networks, power supply, sustainable energy options, water treatment, banking facilities, recreation and parking among its planned features.

The development is being undertaken as a project of the Anambra State Government, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders including the Federal Ministry of Health, NAFDAC, PCN, CPA, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), and Ogbogwu Market Union, Head Bridge, Onitsha.
