EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Anambra Pharmaceutical Coordinated Wholesale Centre Oba (CWC), is a State catalyzed project in response to the Federal Government Drug Distribution Guideline as implemented by the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN). It is on this premise that Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo took the bold step in executing the establishment and construction of the CWC, Oba. He physically laid the foundation stone for the commencement of West Africa’s largest Pharmaceutical Distribution Hub in Anambra State.
The CWC, project, which sits on over 50 hectares of land space, is designed to provide a centralized environment for legitimate pharmaceutical importers, wholesalers and distributors to operate in accordance with applicable regulatory standards. Its establishment addresses the longstanding challenges associated with chaotic illegal drug channels, inadequate regulatory oversight at illegal drug distribution centers, circulation of fake and substandard medicines, and the risk posed by unlicensed pharmaceutical activities. To support operational efficiency, safety, accessibility, and a secured practice environment, the CWC is equipped with modern infrastructures such as; well expanded asphalt road network exceeding 10 kilometers, Expanded walkways, multiple dedicated car park areas of over 5 hectares, Good drainage infrastructure, Water reticulation system, Fibre-optic communication network, Fire service facilities, Hospital, 24-hour Solar-powered street lighting, Modern waste-management system, Electrical substation and transformers, Modern Restaurants, Twenty-four hour security management, modern cold-chain warehouse, modern dry warehouse, financial institution (banks), regulatory bodies (NAFDAC, PCN).
On completion, all open drug markets in Anambra state including Ogbogwu market, Nkwo-Nnewi drug market, Ose drug market, Eke-Awka drug market will be shutdown and safely relocated to CWC Oba. The project is conceived to be the pharmaceutical nerve centre for both the south-east and south-south regions of the country while servicing the other regions. Investment in the Hub offers access to an established regional commercial network and the opportunity to serve pharmaceutical demand across the south-east and south-south regions. Investors will benefit from recurring rental income, guaranteed capital appreciation, instant acceptable collateral ownership instrument, business expansion and ownership of an internationally recognized and regulated business address. The project offers the potential to achieve a projected capital appreciation return on investment exceeding 100% outside rental income and goodwill capital within 18 months.
The transition from the existing open drug markets to the Oba CWC makes timely investment particularly important. The ultimate objective is to establish a modern, secure, accountable, and properly regulated pharmaceutical distribution center that protects lives, supports legitimate enterprise, attracts investment, and contributes to the long-term well-being of every Nigerian citizen. That is the vision of His Excellency Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR.
