Introduction
Anambra has long been bedeviled with a chaotic and unorganized drug distribution and marketing system
This has led to the abundance of all manner of fake, sub-standard and adulterated drugs in circulation
These unwholesome products end up in the bodies of Ndi Anambra and other Nigerians, costing a lot of money and lives Just last month (May), NAFDAC destroyed a load of fake drugs worth over 4 Billion Naira in Awka
The administration of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has come to change this narrative permanently by taking the bull by the horns, giving rise to the Anambra State Pharmaceutical Distribution hub Oba.
This is done to move the sale and distribution of drug products in Anambra to a safe, organized and professional environment in line with global best practices obtainable elsewhere in the world.
The Oba Distribution hub is unique and of international standard.
Why the relocation to Oba
The federal Government of Nigeria has to date approved three wholesale distribution centres for pharmaceuticals in Nigeria:
- Kano: to serve the Northern Region
- Lagos: to serve the western Nigeria
- Anambra: to serve the South East and surrounding South-south states
Note
All drug wholesale centres in Anambra will be closed down and relocate to Oba bhy 2024.
- To change the narrative from a chaotic drug distribution in a gridlock arena to a serene systematic and organized location
- To safeguard the health of Ndi Anambra and Nigeria
- To sanitize the drug distribution system in anambra state.
- Ultimately to have a high return of investment on the real estate through owning a shop/premises/suite.
